Farm to School

What is Farm to School?  Wisconsin Farm to School is a state-wide program that promotes healthy eating and the reduction of childhood obesity. Currently, Sauk Trail collaborates with the program by bringing in samples of locally grown fruits and vegetables during lunch time for students to try and creating awareness of where their food comes from and the path it travels to get to their plate.

In order to keep this important program going, volunteers are needed.

What does volunteering involve?  Ideally, we need three volunteers for each date from 10:30 until 12:05. The tastings are once a month (except for December and May). There is usually minimal set up and clean up, it’s just having enough hands to pass around samples to all those kids!

Sauk Trail was featured on the District website for their participation in the Farm to School program! Click here for the full article. You can also read an additional District article on the popularity of this program here.
